Hartsfield Manor – Miranda and Keith

We were back at our local venue in the Surrey countryside last week.  For small to medium weddings, it is hard to beat Hartsfield Manor for relaxed intimacy. And from a wedding photography perspective, it has great variation both outside and within the walls.

As with a great many weddings this season, it was a case of running outside to take advantage of the periods between showers. But that’s part of the fun!

Wedding Photography at Hartsfield Manor

We love wedding photography at Hartsfield Manor. It’s a local venue to us, but more importantly, it has lovely grounds, strong, elegant Victorian architecture; and its interior features (especially the staircase) also offer good opportunities for photography. And for the wedding guests, the venue itself offers pleasant seclusion and intimacy in the Surrey countryside.

This time, it was our pleasure to be photographing Anna and Michael’s wedding at Hartsfield. We had already enjoyed a pre-wedding shoot at Richmond Park, so the couple were very relaxed and confident about being photographed (particularly Michael, who had a short spell as a professional model in his late teens). After a little spell of changing faces, Hartsfield Manor now has a new wedding coordinator; and the day itself was very well organised – and ran very smoothly. Anna and Michael had a fantastic time; and were pleased with how accommodating the venue was on the day.

The weather was ideal in many ways – light clouds reducing the contrast on a pleasant, warm sunny day. This meant that the light was more controllable for the photographs in the grounds at the back of the manor house. Although Hartsfield’s rose garden was not yet in bloom, the strong yellow of a rape seed field offered some interesting bright contrast in the background for some of the couple shots. The 5th shot in the gallery above was captured using off-camera flash, serving to really emphasise the colours. The willow trees are also excellent for walking shots – offering interesting textures and a darker background which allowed me to shoot into the sun.

Hartsfield Manor is a Devere venue in Betchworth (between Reigate and Dorking) in Surrey.  You can find out more about the venue and and facilities here.

We are looking forward to more wedding photography at Hartsfield Manor next month!

Heidi and Nick at Hartsfield Manor – Surrey Wedding Photography

Heidi and Nick’s wedding  – at St Mary’s church Reigate and Hartsfield Manor – took place on a very cold and windy new year’s eve.  Despite the weather (and Heidi’s dress), they braved many outside shots and had a fantastic day.

Helen and Rory, Hartsfield Manor, 11 October

This was the third successive week for me at Hartsfield Manor.   I love the venue though; and Helen and Rory were another great, photography-loving couple.  Some of the images look like they were taken on different days.  But it was essentially a blustery, grey day, until the sunshine broke through an hour before sunset.
