Gary received another Gold Award from the SWPP for his image of Alexis and Nick’s wedding, taken last month at Syon House. The SWPP hold an international competition each month to celebrate the best in social photography. The image – the only one to win the highest award in the traditional wedding category – will be published in Professional Imagemaker next month.

Hampton Court Palace Wedding Photography – Shejal and Jonathan
Shejal and Jon enjoyed the auspicious setting of Hampton Court Palace for their wedding day on 22 August. The venue offers some great opportunities for wedding photography, though the large volume of sightseers walking by offers another type of challenge. We are looking forward to seeing the couple again later this month for their viewing meeting.

South Lodge Wedding Photography – Karen and Nick
Another challenging day – weather-wise – on 13 August; but we were all determined to take in the lavender fields in between the church ceremony (All Saints, Banstead) and South Lodge reception in Horsham, Sussex. Despite the rain, Karen and Nick enjoyed the photography and had a fantastic day overall.

Stoke Park Wedding Photography – Sophie and Dave
Last Thursday it was back to Stoke Park in Buckinghamshire, where we are recommended photographers. We were a little unlucky with rain which fell heavily when we were about to start on the group photos; but otherwise Sophie and Dave has a great day, which ending with a spectacular firework display. I don’t think I have ever seen a wedding so meticulously planned on paper! Looking forward to seeing them for their viewing meeting.

London Wedding Photography – Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich
This week it was Claire and Andy’s wedding at the Painted Hall, Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich. Actually, that only tells part of the story: we started at Clapham for Claire’s bridal preps, then moved quickly to St Lukes Church in Chelsea. And later a boat trip down the Thames to Greenwich. With a good dose of heavy rain and a lost coach for good measure! A challenging day for us, but ultimately a very successful one. We were delighted that Claire and Andy had such a fantastic day and are looking forward to seeing them after their honeymoon.

London Wedding Photography – Syon House, Brentford
Alexis and Nick, 6 August. So it was our first wedding shoot at Syon Park – part-time residence of the Duke of Northumberland. Fantastic architecture and parkland. But interesting how the staff there have a policy of trying to push the photographers quickly around a little well-trodden photography circuit. Do they really want their clients’ photographs to blandly look the same for each and every wedding? Anyway, we (and the couple) resisted all that and made the best use of the venue. Alexis and Nick were a fantastic couple to work with and we were delighted to see them enjoy such a great day.

Surrey Wedding Photography – Lizzi and Ross, 31 July.
Lizzi and Ross had a delightful day at St Nicholas’ church (Shepperton) and Burhill Golf Club in Walton on Thames, Surrey. Despite the previous wedding at the church over-running (I don’t think we photographed any of the wrong guests!), the day flowed really well and we are looking forward to seeing them after their honeymoon next week.

Your Surrey Wedding – Cover Shot
One of our recent wedding images was used by Your Surrey Wedding Magazine for the front cover this month. This photograph was from Joanne and Hai’s wedding on 29 May. This was taken during the final stages of Joanne’s preparations in her home before setting off to Denbies in Surrey.

Coltsford Mill – Surrey Wedding Photography
Coltsford Mill in Oxted, Surrey was the setting for Lisa and Barnaby’s wedding day on 17 July. The camper van in the first image is an important symbolic part of the day’s imagery. Barnaby’s father – who sadly died a few years previously – was closely associated with this van; and the van itself also forms an important part of Barnaby’s childhood memories.

The Elvetham Hotel – Hampshire Wedding Photography
Zainab and Ali had a wonderful wedding day on 10 July at the Elvetham Hotel in Hampshire. The Elvetham is a 19th century mansion set in quiet Hampshire countryside – and is a superb venue to photograph. It was the hottest wedding day I have experienced for some time; and even Zainab and Ali – who are based in Dubai – felt the heat at times. Looking forward to showing them the full gallery soon.
